Sri Mandir, in Auburn, Sydney in Australia, honours Radha Krishna, Ganeshji, Ram Sita Laxman, Hanumanji, Shiva, Amba Mata. It is also known as Auburn Mandir, The First Hindu Temple.
As Australia's first Hindu temple, Sri Mandir is a historically significant site for the Australian Hindu community, predating the wave of larger purpose-built temples that followed in later decades. It remains a community-owned (not trust-run) place of worship serving devotees from across Sydney and beyond, regardless of regional or sectarian background. Sri Mandir was founded when three community members, Dr Padmanabh Prabhu, Dr Anand and Dr Prem Shankar, bought a disused Salvation Army hall in Auburn in 1976 and converted it into a temple.
Australia carries a distinct temple identity of its own: Home to Sri Mandir in Auburn, the nation's first Hindu temple, established in 1977 to serve Sydney's growing Hindu community.

History
Sri Mandir was founded when three community members, Dr Padmanabh Prabhu, Dr Anand and Dr Prem Shankar, bought a disused Salvation Army hall in Auburn in 1976 and converted it into a temple. It was formally inaugurated in 1977 by Sri Rangnath Ji of the Ramakrishna Mission along with the then NSW Minister for Culture, making it the first Hindu temple established in Australia. The temple was rebuilt in 2001 and an adjacent property was purchased and incorporated as a Bhawan (community hall) in 2007 to serve the growing congregation.
