History
The Sri Meenakshi Temple Society was established in 1977, with land acquired in unincorporated Brazoria County near Pearland between 1976 and 1978. The Maha Kumbhabhishekam, or main inauguration ceremony, was performed in June 1982, making it the third oldest Hindu temple in the United States. Corner shrines and the rajagopuram tower were completed by 1995.
