In Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, Ram Raja Temple is dedicated to Lord Rama, worshipped here as a king (Ram Raja Sarkar), with Sita, Lakshmana and other figures. It is also known as Shri Ramraja Temple, Ram Raja Sarkar.
Described by Incredible India as the only temple in India where Rama is worshipped as a king and given an official guard of honour. The ritual of royal service, with armed guards saluting the deity, continues daily and is the temple's best known feature. Local tradition says Queen Ganesh Kunwari of Orchha brought an image of Rama from Ayodhya, and that Rama agreed to come on condition that he would remain wherever he was first seated.
Madhya Pradesh carries a distinct temple identity of its own: The heart of India, home to two of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the UNESCO-listed temples of Khajuraho, and the hilltop Shakti shrine of Maihar.

|---|---|
| Morning | Morning aarti 8:00 AM to Rajbhog Aarti 12:30 PM (Phagun to Kwar); 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (Kartik to Magh) |

The temple's own website publishes a seasonal aarti timetable with two periods, 'Phagun to Kwar' and 'Kartik to Magh' (Hindu months), and states: 'Mandir remains closed after Aarti Rajbhog till Shyam Aarti.' The times above are the published aarti times used as the session windows; the site does not give separate gate opening times. A short curtain (chik) of 15 minutes precedes Rajbhog Aarti and Vyari Aarti. The site also lists a Shayan Aarti without a time. Confirm festival-day changes with the temple.
Poojas and daily rituals
The daily cycle on the official timetable runs from the morning Aarti to Rajbhog (with a 15 minute curtain before Rajbhog Aarti), after which the temple closes until the evening Sandhya Aarti, then a late Vyari Aarti (also preceded by a 15 minute curtain). The official site also lists a Shayan Aarti and says a Yagya is performed inside the temple premises every Sunday. Incredible India describes the evening aarti as including a gun salute by the guards.

History and architecture
Architecture
The temple occupies a former palace building, so it looks more like a Bundela palace than a typical shikhara temple. Incredible India describes a blend of Rajput and Mughal styles with domes, turrets and carved detail, painted in white, pink and yellow.
History
Local tradition says Queen Ganesh Kunwari of Orchha brought an image of Rama from Ayodhya, and that Rama agreed to come on condition that he would remain wherever he was first seated. The image was placed in the queen's palace, and when the larger Chaturbhuj Temple was ready for it, the deity could not be moved. The palace therefore became the temple, and Rama has been treated as the king of Orchha ever since.

Where this information comes from
Confidence: High. Aarti and session times come from the temple's own government-domain website (ramrajatemple.mp.gov.in, footer: Shri Ramraja Temple Administration, built by NIC Tikamgarh), read directly. Two caveats: the site publishes aarti times and seasonal Hindu-month periods rather than gate opening times, and it does not state an entry fee.
