Vaikuntha Ekadashi 2026: Dates at Srirangam and Tirumala
Vaikuntha Ekadashi is on Sunday 20 December 2026, says Drik Panchang. The Srirangam temple's own festival table also lists 20 December, with the Paramapada Vasal gate opening that day.
Many people expect Vaikuntha Ekadashi in January. In 2026 it falls in December.
This page shows the Srirangam festival days from the temple's own table, and what we know about Tirumala.
When is Vaikuntha Ekadashi 2026?
Drik Panchang and the Srirangam table agree on 20 December. One third-party site said 30 December, but no official source supports that.

What is Vaikuntha Ekadashi 2026?
Vaikuntha Ekadashi, also called Mukkoti Ekadashi, is an Ekadashi in the Dhanur (Margazhi) month. Devotees believe the gate to Lord Vishnu's home, the Vaikuntha Dwaram, opens on this day (Drik Panchang).
It is especially important at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple and the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam.
Devotees fast for Lord Vishnu. Some drink only water, some take milk or fruit, and some eat one simple meal before sunset. They break the fast the next morning.
Do temples change their timings on Vaikuntha Ekadashi 2026?
The two big temples have very different amounts of public detail so far.
- Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam
The temple's official festival table lists the whole festival. It runs from 9 to 30 December. The ten day-time days are from 10 to 19 December.
Vaikunta Ekadasi is on 20 December, and the Paramapada Vasal (a special gate) opens that day. The ten night days run from 20 to 29 December. The festival ends on 30 December.
The temple says darshan times change in festival seasons. Its posted daily timing table runs only to 31 October, so December hours are not posted yet. Expect very large crowds.
- Tirumala Venkateswara Temple
We found no TTD notice for Vaikunta Dwara Darshan 2026. Sakshi Post reported in 2020 that the TTD board decided to keep the Vaikunta Dwaram open for 10 days from Vaikunta Ekadashi every year. If TTD follows that rule, it would run about 20 to 29 December. TTD has not announced the dates, tokens or quotas.
We could not find an official opening time for the Paramapada Vasal on 20 December. Third-party sites give different times, so we do not list one.
Tips for your visit
- Wait for TTD's own notice before you plan a Tirumala trip for these days.
- At Srirangam, check the temple's darshan table again in December.
- Plan for a long wait on 20 December at both temples.
