In Tirupati (Tirumala), Andhra Pradesh, Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Tirumala honours Lord Venkateswara (Balaji), a form of Vishnu. It is also known as Tirupati Balaji, Tirumala Temple, Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vaari Devasthanam.
Widely regarded as one of the richest and most-visited religious sites in the world, drawing tens of thousands of pilgrims daily. Famous for its Srivari darshan, the Hundi offerings, tonsuring (hair offering) and the Tirupati laddu prasadam. It is also one of the 108 Divya Desams, the Vishnu temples glorified in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham, venerated here as the site of Vishnu's marriage to Padmavati. Located on the seven hills of Tirumala in the Seshachalam range, the temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and has been an active centre of worship for over a millennium.
Andhra Pradesh carries a distinct temple identity of its own: Home to Tirumala, the world's most-visited pilgrimage centre, alongside ancient hill shrines and Shakti Peethas along the Krishna and the Eastern Ghats.
