History
Ground was broken for the new mandir with a Shilanyas Mahotsav in 2017. The temple was consecrated in a Pran Pratishtha ceremony on 2 February 2025, led by BAPS's global spiritual head, 92-year-old Mahant Swami Maharaj, who travelled from India for the occasion, preceded by a Nagar Yatra procession through Johannesburg. It is distinct from BAPS's earlier, smaller mandir in Lenasia (murti pratishtha 2004), which continues to serve that suburb's community.
