In Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh, Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, Srisailam is a shrine to Lord Shiva as Mallikarjuna, with Goddess Bhramaramba Devi. It is also known as Srisailam Temple, Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga.
One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and simultaneously one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas (through Goddess Bhramaramba), making it a rare site that is both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peetha. Set atop the Nallamala Hills with the River Krishna flowing beside it, the temple enshrines a self-manifested (swayambhu) Shiva lingam.
Andhra Pradesh carries a distinct temple identity of its own: Home to Tirumala, the world's most-visited pilgrimage centre, alongside ancient hill shrines and Shakti Peethas along the Krishna and the Eastern Ghats.
